Personal Data – any information relating to an identified or identifiable person
Processing – any operation or set of operations which is performed on Personal Data
Data Subject – a person whose Personal Data is being processed
Child – a person under 16 years of age.
Act – the Data Protection Act 2018, given Royal Assent on 23rd May 2018.
This Policy explains when and why we collect personal information, how we use it, the
conditions under which we may disclose it to others and how we keep it secure.
We may change this Policy from time to time so please check this occasionally to ensure
that you are happy with any changes.
HOW WE COLLECT INFORMATION ABOUT YOU:
Karen Lloyd (and her associates) are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy
and your right to control your personal data. The prime purpose of collecting your data is in
order that we can provide you with the services offered by my website.
Karen Lloyd will collect personal data from you when you enquire about my counselling
services in order set up an initial appointment with you. This information will include your
name and address, your contact details and other relevant personal information which
enables me to provide a professional service to you.
I may communicate with you by email, by SMS (text) or by telephone. When you enter into
a contract with me for counselling services you will be asked to sign to say that you agree to
the keeping of personal information and brief notes of our counselling sessions for essential
business purposes. This information will be stored securely. Once a client finishes
counselling with me all data will be securely stored for a period of up to 7 years and will
then be destroyed.
If you enquire about my courses, workshops or seminars I will ask you for your contact
details and any other relevant information in order to be able to provide you with
information about the services I provide, or to send you information which may be of
interest to you. This data will be stored securely for as long as you wish to be kept informed
by me. You may opt out of this at any time.
CHILDREN
My services are not targeted at children and I do not knowingly ever collect any information
from them. I do not usually work with any person under the age of 16.
WHAT TYPE OF INFORMATION DO WE COLLECT?
I (and my associates) may collect both personal and sensitive information.
The personal information we may collect includes:
Name
Address
Email Address
Landline Number
Mobile Number
Date of Birth
We may also collect sensitive personal information, known as ‘Special Category’ data
under the Act:
Gender, ethnicity and marital status
Religious or other cultural beliefs
Physical or mental health or condition
Sexuality
Offences (including alleged offences)
Your personal data will not be shared with any other person or organisation without your
consent and knowledge unless there is a legal requirement to do so. Exceptions to
confidentiality are detailed in my working agreement. Karen Lloyd will never sell your data
to any third party.
